The film has little dialogue and relies on a remarkable series of contrasts for effect: a sultry night of deep, often painful depictions of passion visualized in a stark and grainy manner against the backdrop of a spiritless, bland ...。隋末唐初的一段传奇爱情故事。主要讲红拂与李靖，李世民、杨素，独孤城，虬髯客之间在乱世中的爱恨情仇。红拂原是隋朝大司空杨素的家伎，她不但貌美聪慧，更有一身过人武艺，红拂本姓张，名初尘。父亲原是隋朝一名六品官吏，由于弹劾朝政被罢冕。父母亲被杀后，独孤城将幼小的红拂带回地下城，养育她成人，并且教她武艺。某种意义上，独孤城是红拂的第一个男人。他救了她的性命，并且为她创造了新的生命，使她成为暗人。杨素为巩固势力，在自己的司空府地下，建造了一座地下城……。
