Black Earth Rising is a long form thriller which, through the prism of a black Anglo-American family, examines the West’s relationship with contemporary Africa by exploring issues of justice, guilt, and self-determination.。在一次代号[猫王]研究中，由于博士朗（大卫帕玛饰）将爆炸范围估计错误，使得整个岛上除了研究所几名人员外，其它参与协助的十八名士兵悉数遇难。在军事法庭上，博士隐敝了这个乞讨密没有告诉法官，导致士兵直属长官布莱纳（彼德佛斯饰）被判刑。。
