A young woman tries to find her origins after having been abandoned as an infant at a cemetery wrapped in a cloth with satanic symbols, but as she gets closer to answers a malevolent spirit is telling her to leave.。During the cold and rainy off-season a man arrives in a seaside town and, giving his name only as Pierre, checks into the only hotel which remains open. His arrival arouses curiosity and a degree of suspicion, as people note that he appears to know the area, yet gives no explanation for his presence at that bleak time of year in the dead-end town.。1905年，赣西煤矿工人遭受血腥镇压，矿工们忍气吞声，过着牛马不如的生活。1921年，中国共产党成立后，青年雷焕觉根据党的指示，来此办起夜校。贺青山、陈振云、郑海生等工人都在夜校接受了马克思主义的启蒙教育。易猛子父子都是挖煤工，受苦很深，但是父亲易老倌由于此前的反抗均告失败，非常灰心，猛子只相信自己的拳头，不愿到夜校接受宣传教育。猛子结婚那一天，矿上发生瓦斯爆炸，矿头们不顾井下工人死活，勒令封井。猛子等与矿警、把头后被捕。张老耿死在井里，猛子的妻子秋英被逼自杀。雷焕觉将矿上的惨剧在报纸上揭露，矿头们不得不放出猛子。雷焕觉启发大家，矿工们团结起来组织工人俱乐部。在全国澎湃高涨的工潮鼓舞下，矿工们因为矿头调军队逮捕雷焕觉，愤而发动了矿山有史以来从未有过的大罢工，并戳穿了矿头的诡计，取得罢工胜利。。
