富士山麓脚下，作为“自杀胜地”而闻名全国的青木原树海，由当地消防队组织的一年一度搜索自杀者的行动如约举行。经营简易旅馆的松村，每年也主动参加搜寻活动。这一年，一名男性游客自愿加入进来。可当走入树海后，男游客却消失在丛林的深处。第二年，男游客的尸体被搜索队发现，松村隐隐感觉，这名男子似乎向他传达了某些情感。凭借对方的遗物，他踏上寻访男人亲属和人生过往的漫长旅途…… 本片根据石原慎太郎的短篇集《生死时刻（生死刻々）》中的故事改编，首周初登场观众满意度排名第六位。。Framing StoryDr Martin (Robert Powell) arrives at a secluded asylum "for the incurably insane" to be interviewed for a job by the wheelchair-using, authoritarian Dr Lionel Rutherford (Patrick Magee).
