And when he sparks with a single mother, he learns how his choices have real-life consequences.。剧根据纪实小说《Jambusters》改编，讲述了一个真实的故事：在第二次世界大战期间，一群住在英国柴郡偏远地区的女人团结起来共度难关。当他们所在的社区失去与外界的联系后，他们必须调动一切资源来帮助这个社区。她们是当时战争后方的缩影。 来自《唐顿庄园》（Downton Abbey）的Samantha Bond和来自《Cranford》的Francesca Annis将主演这部六集历史剧，Mark Bonnar、Ruth Gemmell、Claire Rushbrook、Mark Bazeley、Frances Grey和Ed Stoppard参与演出。 标题「home fires」源自短语「keeping the home fires burning」，即料理家务，维持正常的生活。。
