Barnabáš Kos, a triangle player at a symphonic orchestra, is suddenly promoted to serve as the head of the said institution, even though both he and his superiors deem him completely unfit for the task. Encouraged in equal parts by this unexpected recognition and the servile praise of his colleagues, Kos’s modesty starts to gradually vanish. The erstwhile bashful and aloof percussionist quickly becomes aware of the advantages of his new office, and begins to realise his increasingly ludicrous artistic ambitions. Ultimately, the submissive marionette turns into a source of public humiliation, and his astonishing career finds an abrupt end. Orchestra serves here as a microcosm that grotesquely reflects the absurd and tragicomic mechanisms of the paranoid apparatus of power. Eva Näripe。旅回りのストリッパー、バーバラが名古屋に帰って来た。沖縄集落の中のタケ子が経営する飯み屋の二階が彼女の住居で、内縁の夫・宮里と親友のアイコが待っているはずだった。その日は、バーバラの弟の正とタケ子の娘、タマ枝、和男の不良中学生三人が修学旅行からはずされた腹イセに積立金強奪騒動を起こし、人質の野呂教諭が縛られ、物干し台に転がされていた。宮里は原発を転々と渡り歩く労働者・原発ジプシーでヤクザの仲間入りをしている。バーバラとは沖縄のコザ暴動以来の間柄で、彼女はそろそろ、二人で堅気の仕事に就いて結婚したがっていた。バーバラは宮里の顔を見るや、アイコのことを聞く。アイコは福井の美浜で原発労働者相手の娼婦をさせられていて、宮里の手引きで逃げて来たが、前日、美浜へ帰ってしまっていた。バーバラは、宮里がやくざに寝返ってアイコを帰したと思い込み、学校をクビになった野呂...。
